The Division of Education, Research and Technology, through its School Supervision Unit, is conducting investigations into an incident of bullying, which occurred at the Bon Accord Government Primary School.

Secretary Zorisha Hackett, and Assistant Secretary Orlando Kerr, both vehemently condemn this recent incident and denounce any other related acts that place students in less than safe circumstances.

Bullying undermines the fundamental idea that all students share an inherent right to a safe educational environment. In this regard, officers of the Student Support Services Unit have been assigned to provide urgent support and attention to the students involved. Equally, there is a continued focus on implementing the appropriate strategies to mitigate the occurrence of bullying and all acts of violence in schools.

DERTech will continue to take the necessary steps that will provide staff and students with a safe and positive educational environment.
