Sylina Jack was the first across the finish line in last Friday’s Tobago Primary Schools 3K Road Race final. The Scarborough Methodist student completed the Petit Trou to Shaw Park Hard Courts route in an impressive 14 minutes and 40 seconds.
Completing the top three were reigning National champion Q’Jhea Stewart and Anaya Grant respectively. However, the overall winner of the race was Malique Young of Scarborough RC. Young crossed the line in 13 minutes and 50 seconds. The girls had a five-minute headstart over the boys. Bon Accord’s Aaron Wills and Dareem Caliste finished second and third respectively.
The 20 girls and top 20 boys would now represent the Tobago zone in the national final in May this year. Assistant Secretary of the Division, Marisha Osmond commended the athletes for their bravery. Ms. Osmond also thanked the principals and coaches for their support in readying the athletes. The 3K signalled the start of the track and field season.
