On Friday 18th February 2022, The Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the Division of Education, Research and Technology hosted an award ceremony in honour of eight students who secured top spots on the CXC CAPE Merit List June 2021.
A simple ceremony was hosted at the Anne Mitchell-Gift Auditorium Scarborough Library Facility to recognise the stellar academic achievements of our young Tobagonian.
Secretary Zorisha Hackett expressed that she was proud of the trailblazing accomplishments of each student stating that they have “𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒏-𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒖𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒖𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔.”
Teachers and Principals of the Signal Hill Secondary and Scarborough Secondary Schools were also recognized for their efforts and contribution toward the success of the students. They were awarded trophies, bouquets and fruit baskets.

The Secretary and Assistant Secretary commend the Merit list students on their success and encourage all students to strive for excellence on their respective academic journeys.
Students were awarded trophies, certificates of excellence and will also receive financial contributions towards their pursuit of higher learning.
